PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frequency multiplier that can extract a third harmonic efficiently regardless of a simple configuration employing a high frequency transistor(TR) to attain miniaturization and a stable operation. SOLUTION: One terminal of a transmission line 3 connects to a collector of an HBT 2 whose base connects to an output terminal of an input side matching circuit 1 and whose emitter connects to ground, and one terminal of a tip open stub 4 for blocking passing of a second harmonic connects to the other terminal of the transmission line 3. An input terminal of an output side matching circuit 5 connects to the other terminal of the transmission line 3 and an output terminal of the matching circuit 5 connects to an input terminal of a third harmonic passing filter 6. The second harmonic is reflected toward the HBT 2 at the connecting point of the tip open stub 4 for blocking passing of the second harmonic, the HBT 2 mixes the reflected second harmonic with a fundamental wave to generate a third harmonic with respect to the fundamental wave. Then and electric length of transmission line 3 is optimized to output a third wave on which the generated third harmonic is superimposed via the matching circuit 5 and the third harmonic passing filter 6.
