PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a mold, with which a high mold strength can be achieved in case of molding reconditioned sand containing synthetic mullite sand by an organic ester hardening method by using water-soluble phenol resin. SOLUTION: In this mold manufacturing method, refractory granular material composed of >=50 wt.% reconditioned sand containing >=20 wt.% synthetic mullite sand is molded by using binder containing the water-soluble phenol resin and an opened-chain type ether alcohol and/or ketone alcohol, and the organic ester as hardening agent. The open-chain type ether alcohol is desirable to be glycolic ether group or an aromatic ether alcohol.
