PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a super twist nematic liquid crystal display, having a short switching-over time and a good angle-depending property by making the display contain a prescribed trifluorophenyl group-containing compound and a specific liquid crystal compound. SOLUTION: This super twist nematic liquid crystal mixture presenting in a cell and having a positive dielectric anisotropy, contains one or more compounds having a 3,4,5-trifluorophenyl group selected from compounds of formula I [R is a 1-12C (fluorinated) alkyl, an alkoxy or the like; rings A and B are each 1,4-cyclohexane or the like; Z1, Z2 are each COO, CH2CH2 or the like; (n) is 0-2] and one kind or more compounds expressed by formula III [R3 is a 2-7C alkenyl; R4 is a 1-12C (fluorinated alkyl, an alkoxy or the like; L1, L2 are each H or F; (m) is 0, 1], and further preferably containing one kind, or two or more kinds of a compound expressed by formula III. Further, the display preferably has <=1.5 V threshold value electric voltage. |
