PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake-resistant reinforcing method and structures for existing buildings thereby permitting stepwise earthquake-resistant recovery by giving a tenacity reinforcement to the existing buildings and further easily adding earthquake-resistant elements. SOLUTION: A steel plate 16 is wound around the outer periphery of columns 12, 12 constituting a framework of an existing building in a state where beams 13, 13 located at the upper and lower ends of columns 12 are separated, and high-strength mortar is placed between the steel plate 16 and beam 13. Then, a brace 15 is added to an opening 14 surrounded by columns 12, 12 and beams 13, 13 and the brace 15 and steel plate 16 are jointed together.
