PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide vertical type continuous casting equipment with a from-the upper-part inserting device for dummy bar, in which the dummy bar can be stored by utilizing a narrow space and the insertion of the dummy bar into a mold from the upper part can be executed by using short carrying and shifting course. SOLUTION: A cast slab carry-out course 7 is constituted of a cast slab carry-out inclining course part 7a and a cast slab carry-out horizontal course part 7b. A tilting frame 8 is provided for tilting a cast slab carry-out carriage 6 into the vertical posture supporting the cast slab 2 and the dummy bar 65 at the lower part of the cast slab drawing route 4, and into the inclining posture to the cast slab carry-out inclining route part 7a side. At the upper part of the cast slab carry-out inclining course part 7a, a dummy bar holding device 20 for receiving and holding the dummy bar 65 from the cast slab carry-out inclining course part 7a, is arranged. In a ladlle car 45 freely shiftable to the upper part of the mold 1, a dummy bar inserting device 50 for inserting the dummy bar 65 into the mold 1 from the upper part by receiving this dummy bar from the dummy bar holding device 20, is arranged.
