PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brazing filler metal which is sufficient in strength and capable of the brazing at low temperature. SOLUTION: A brazing filler metal has the composition consisting of, by weight, 1.5-5.5% Si, >10.0 (excluding 10.0, hereinafter same)-26.0% Cu, 0.1-30% Ag, 0.1->40% Zn and the balance mainly Al. Furthermore, the brazing filler metal has the composition consisting of 1.5-4.5% Si, 10.0-21.0% Cu, 6.0-25% Ag, 10-40% Zn, and the balance mainly Al. Still further, the brazing filler metal has the composition consisting of 2.5-4.5% Si, 15.0-21.0% Cu, 9.0-25% Ag, 10-30% Zn, and the balance mainly Al. In addition, the brazing filler metal contains 0.05-4.5% Mg. In addition to the above-described composition, the brazing filler metal contains at least one kind of Fe, Mn, Ti, Cr and Ni by <=4% of the total weight. A bonding material using the brazing filler metal is realized.
