PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent electrostatic discharge to a signal line prolonging to a substrate end of a display panel and to reduce defects on the display panel due to static electricity. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal display panel PNL of a structure stacking a pixel electrode substrate SUB1 with a counter substrate SUB2 each other, and a signal line L provided on the opposite surface of the pixel electrode substrate SUB1 prolongs to the substrate SUB1 end side of the opposite side of its terminal T, and the counter substrate SUB2 is made projected to some extent from the pixel electrode substrate SUB1. Thus, the defect due to the static electricity in the manufacturing process of the display panel is prevented, and the manufacturing yield is improved.
