PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder capable of miniaturizing and simplifying a pump unit and efficiently executing forced suction and discharge of ink from a recording head. SOLUTION: This recorder comprises recording heads 7, 8 which are mounted on a carriage 1 and are reciprocated in the width direction of a recording paper, a capping device 12 having cap units 16, 17 each capping the respective recording heads independently corresponding to the movement of the carriage 1 and a pump unit 30 having a plurality of suction pumps which are simultaneously driven by a driving source. A negative pressure is applied to an inner space of each of the cap units 16, 17 by means of the suction pumps. |
