PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a large friction coefficient by using an organic, paper-form base material. SOLUTION: A friction material having a multiple-layer structure has at least two layers laminated which are a friction surface layer 2 at the friction surface side and a base layer 1 at the fixing surface side. Here, the ratio of the Young's modulus of the entire friction material Et and the Young's modulus of the base layer Eb is within the range of Eb/Et<1. A large contacting area against the opponent material is ensured by the base layer having a low Young's modulus which follows the opponent material well, and also a high friction coefficient is ensured by the friction surface layer having a high Young's modulus which comes into contact with the opponent material.
|
