PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the electrophotographic photoreceptor high in sensitivity and chargeability and practicable for a high-speed copying machine and also for a laser printer by using a specified tetrazaporphyrin compound as the charge generating material of the photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The photosensitive layer of the photoreceptor contains the tetrazaporphyrin compound represented by formula I in which at least one of A-E is a group represented by formula II and at least one of them is a group represented by formula III; and M is a metal atom or a metal oxide or metal hydroxide or metal halide group, and in formulae II and III, each or r1-r6 is an H or halogen atom or an optionally substituted alkyl or such aryl or such cycloalkyl or nitro group, or r1 and r2, and any couple of r3-r6 may combine with each other to form a ring.
