PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the malfunction of a circuit element in a semiconductor chip caused by diffused external light, as for a liquid crystal display device with a semiconductor chip. SOLUTION: Many transparent control electrode fine conductors 13 and 14 are arranged on both opposed surfaces of a pair of glass substrates 11 and 12, and a liquid crystal material 15 is enclosed in a counter gap between a pair of glass substrates 11 and 12, and a chip type semiconductor element is mounted and placed at the end part where many transparent control electrode fine conductors 13 and 14 are guided and gathered on at least one surface of the one of the glass substrates, and the chip-type semiconductor element and the end part where many transparent control electrode fine wires are guided and gathered are surrounded by a light shielding material so as to prevent the occurrence of the malfunction of the circuit element in the semiconductor element caused by the diffused external light.
