PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To process the generation of the abnormality of a printer without requiring any unnecessary labor to a user by transferring data to a printer other than a designated printer when the continuing time of abnormality passes a prescribed time-out time. SOLUTION: When a print server receives the communication of the generation of abnormality from a printer side (S21), a transfer timer having a time-out time different for each kind of abnormality is started in response to this (S22). When a printer is restored until the timer reaches time-out (S23, 24), the timer is stopped (S25), and the print is continued. On the other hand, when the printer is not restored, job data are extracted from the abnormal printer (S26), and another printer equivalent to the designation of output is selected (S27). When another printer can be selected, data are transferred to the newly selected printer (S29), and the print processing is continued. When the selection of another printer fails, an error is communicated to a user (S31).
