PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a weft yarn effectively from the inside of a weft yarn- capturing passage. SOLUTION: This weft yarn tensioning device in a jet loom is provided by blowing a tip part of a weft yarn Y with an ejected air from a stretch nozzle 16 mounted at the front surface of a sley 11 to the inside of a weft yarn-capturing pipe 17 with crossing through a weft yarn inserting passage 121. A weft yarn-eliminating nozzle 19 is arranged at a position off to the side direction of a deformed reed 12 from an extended region E of an exit 175 of the weft yarn-capturing pipe 17. The tip part 191 of the weft yarn- eliminating nozzle 19 is bent toward the side of the extended region E, and the weft yarn eliminating nozzle 19 points to the exit 175. The ejected air from the weft yarn-eliminating nozzle sweeps through the inside of the weft yarn- capturing pipe 17.
