PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a defective coating film to obtain a photosensitive body which is a coated material without irregularity of coating by increasing the speed of a material to be coated passing through coating liquid at a prescribed acceleration. SOLUTION: A prescribed coating liquid 9 is housed in a coating liquid tank 6, and a pan 3 is provided on the periphery of a sidewall 16 of the coating tank 6. The coating liquid 9 is fed into the coating liquid tank 6 as shown by the arrows B from a preliminary tank 8 by a liquid transfer pump 10 through a feeding filter 11 and a feeding port 12. Furthermore, the coating liquid 9 is made to overflow the upper end part of the sidewall 16 onto the circumference of the coating liquid tank 6 and is collected in a pan 3 and is discharged to the preliminary tank 8 through a return pipeline 7. After the liquid transfer pump 10 is stopped and a coating liquid tank cover 2 is fully opened, a cylindrical substrate 1 begins to be immersed, and then, it passes through a vapor layer 5 and rushes into a coated liquid surface 15. After the lower end part of the cylindrical substrate 1 enters the coating liquid 9, it is immersed in the direction as shown by the arrow A while the speed is changed. At this time, acceleration on immersion is preferably 11 mm/s2 or less.
