PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the high level of initial discharge capacity and to improve a cycle life characteristic by containing, in an electrolyte, a compound for which the first stage acid dissociation constant(pKa) of itself or its conjugate acid in an aqueous solution is specified. SOLUTION: In manufacturing this nonaqueous electrolyte battery, a transition metal composite oxide such as nickel oxyhydroxide, lithium cobaltate, lithium nickelate or lithium manganate is used as a positive electrode active material. The battery excellent in a cycle life characteristic can be provided by containing, in an electrolyte, a compound for which the value of the first stage acid dissociation constant(pKa) of itself or its conjugate acid in an aqueous solution is 8.0 or more. Phenol or the like, and ethylamine or the like are offered as an example for the compound for which the value of its first stage acid dissociation constant(pKa) in an aqueous solution is 8.0 or more, and as an example for the compound for which the value of the first stage acid dissociation constant(pKa) of its conjugate acid in an aqueous solution is 8.0 or more, respectively. |
