A tool for bevelling the edges of metal workpieces comprises a reciprocating ram supporting the cutter, a work support-plate arranged. obliquely to the cutter, a pressure pad opposite the work support-plate and an abutment for the workpiece at an angle to the said guide face. The cutter 8 is mounted in a ram 3 which reciprocates in the tool-head 1, being driven by an electric motor through an eccentric. Screwed into the head is a stirrup 7 comprising an upper part 6 which is bifurcated to receive a lower part 11. A bolt 12 secures the two parts. A work support-plate 14 is mounted on the lower stirrup part and an abutment 16 is secured to the work support. A pressure pad 19 slides in a slot 20 in the part 11 and is guided by a bolt 21 secured in the stirrup and passing through a slot in the pressure pad. Fig. 4 shows a feed stop 24 adapted to be secured by a screw in either side of the lower stirrup part 11, which positions the cutter by engaging the edge of the remaining metal. In a modification, Fig. 5, the abutment 32 is integral with the support 31 and is mounted in a holder 30 pivotably mounted between the arms of a forked stirrup 29 and locked in the desired angular position relative to the cutter by a bolt 34. The pressure pads includes an adjustable threaded bolt 37 and a roller 38.</p> |
