PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a variable valve gear with small arrangement space by dividing and forming one tip part side and the other tip part side of a rocker arm and making both the divided arm parts detachable according to an engine operation state, in a variable mechanism in which an oscillating fulcrum of the locker arm is made variable and lift amount of an engine valve is made variable. SOLUTION: When a vehicle is started and the vehicle is transferred to stationary operations of low revolution low load and medium revolution and medium load, an electromagnetic switching valve is switched, high pressure oil from an oil pump is supplied to a pressure receiving chamber 43 and a connecting pin 41 is advanced and moved against a coil spring 42 at a location where a hole for operation 38 and a hole for sliding 40 are matched in a base circle area of an oscillating cam in each independent oscillating locus of both divided arm parts 35, 36 constituting a rocker arm 18. As a result, both the divided arm parts 35, 36 are linked each other via the connecting pin 41. As a result, the whole of the rocker arm 18 is oscillated in a cooperation with a driving cam, two intake valves are operated, intake filling efficiency is enhanced and an output improvement is contrived.
