PURPOSE: An optimum servo setting method is provided to maintain an optimum servo state and increase a data processing speed by properly resetting a servo compensator. CONSTITUTION: In an optimum servo setting method, an optical disk to be played-back is first loaded(S101), then a pickup device is conveyed to a specific section of the optical disk storing a functional deflection of a drive unit and a disk error information(S102). The pickup device accesses the functional deflection. Next, a servo error signal is self-diagnosed(S104) according to the accessed functional deflection. A parameter of a servo compensator is reset according to the data on the self-diagnosis(S105), then the data reproduction operation of the optical disk is performed on the basis of the reset parameter of the servo compensator(S106).
