The present invention relates to promoters effecting root-specific expression of coding nucleotide sequences controlled thereby and expression cassettes, recombinant vectors and microorganisms that contain such promoters. The invention also relates to transformed transgenic plants, in addition to a method for the production and a method for the isolation of root-specific promoters.
