PURPOSE: A method for searching track in an optical dick system is provided to rapidly follow target track by reducing an inertia generated in an object lens while accessing disk. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer(226) stores track search data including track search distance, track cross frequency, and speed control parameter of an optical disk by controlling a memory(222). The microcomputer(226) determines whether or not a reproducing mode is selected by inputting of a key input unit(224). If the reproducing mode is selected, the microcomputer(226) determines whether or not a track search mode is selected by inputting of a key input unit(224). If the track search mode is selected, the microcomputer(226) produces a search distance according to the selection of a user and detects a search direction. Then, the microcomputer reads track search data stored in the memory(222) and confirms a delivery speed and distance of optical pick-up device(202) from a track cross frequency measuring part(214). Based on the read track search data, and the delivery speed and distance of the confirmed optical pick-up device, the microcomputer assigns driving speed and speed control parameter of a thread motor according to the produced search distance, and controls driving speed of the thread motor.
