PURPOSE: An audition sensing method is provided to convert a reproduction mode into a temporary stop mode and a stop mode sequentially at a separation of a viewer, so that the reproduction mode is directly performed at a review. CONSTITUTION: In an audition sensing method, after a tape is inserted by a user(S1), the inserted tape is reproduced(S2). There is judged whether a sense signal of a high potential level is inputted(S3). If the sense signal of the high potential level is inputted, a temporary stop mode is performed by stopping an operation of a capstan motor(S4). There is judged whether a time elapses after the temporary stop mode(S5). If so, a stop mode is executed by stopping a drum motor, the capstan motor and a head drum(S6). In a case where the sense signal of the high potential level is not inputted, there is judged whether a reproduction mode is completed(S7). If so, the program is ended. If not, return to the step(S2).
