PURPOSE: A system and method for operating automatic teller machine(ATM) is provided to decrease the waste of a manpower by transmitting files at real time through an ATM server for renewing and/or managing version information of an ATM. CONSTITUTION: An ATM server(70) transmits and receives version information data to an ATM (61) through an ATM communication module(70a) and an ATM server communication module(611). A version information managing module(70b) receives version information from ATMs(61,62,63) at a period of a uniform time and generates an interrupt signal to ATMs(61,62,63) for managing versions of ATMs(61,62,63). A dedicated browser(61c) is operated in display units of ATMs(61,62,63), and an active server page and an image are displayed.
