PURPOSE: A caption display controlling device according to broadcasting information and a method for the same are provided to display caption to only program of which caption display mode accords with the program grade, so that the caption display mode need not set whenever a program and a viewer change, thereby enabling all viewer to effectively watch caption broadcasting. CONSTITUTION: A tuner(10) receives broadcasting information. A program ID decoder(20) decodes ID of broadcasting program by receiving an image signal of selected channel. A microcomputer(30) examines whether the decoded information accords with caption display mode and controls the parts of the device. A caption signal controlling part(40) controlled by the control signal of the microcomputer(30), so that outputs again caption signal input by being synchronized with image signal in the tuner to the microcomputer. Image composition part(50) composes and outputs image signal from the tuner part with a caption OSD signal, image, and caption switching signal output from the microcomputer. Image controlling part(60) receives image control data output from the microcomputer(30) in the signal output from the image composition part(50) and outputs the same by adjusting color, brightness. An output controlling part(70) controls the signal of the image controlling part(60) to be output to CPT(Color Picture Tube). The CPT(80) displays actual image and caption being controlled by the output controlling part(70).
