PURPOSE: A wave length variable filter is to completely eliminate a polarizing dependency of an incident light using an axial domain, thereby achieving an excellent permeability and wave length variability. CONSTITUTION: A wave length variable filter having a Fabry-Ferot structure of mantic liquid crystal comprises a transparent electrode disposed in an inside of two substrates, a reflect film(3) coated on the electrode, a vertical domain film(4) coated on one of the reflects film so that the liquid crystal is vertically arranged, a horizontal domain film(5) coated on the other reflect film so that the liquid crystal is axially arranged. The mantic liquid crystal is injected into the reflect film and a wave length of an incident light is tuned according to an applied voltage. A polarizing plate is attached to at least one substrate.
