PURPOSE: An apparatus for molding pins of a panel for a cathode ray tube and a control method thereof are provided to prevent unmolded pins from being transferred a next step. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for molding pins of a panel for a cathode ray tube includes a stud pin molder(3), a stud pin supplier(7), an illuminantdetector(29), and a controller(33). The stud pin molder(3) molds stud pins in the panel for the cathode ray tube. The illuminantdetector detects the strength of light emitted from the stud pin molded on the panel. The controller generates a predetermined signal according to an output of the illuminantdetector.
