PURPOSE: An intelligent device for separating an original signal from mixed signals and method for the same is provided to perform the separation process without relation to statistic characteristics of the original signal, by evaluating efficiency of the separation process of a signal separation system and then automatically controlling an update process. CONSTITUTION: Means(120) updates a conversion reference matrix(G), used to convert an input signal(x), according to the output signal(y) of input signal converting means(110). The input signal converting means(110) converts the input signal(x) including a noise to the whitening signal(y) for the use with the conversion reference matrix(G), wherein a covariance matrix becomes an identity matrix in the whitening signal(y). Original signal separation means(130) separates an original signal(z) form the signal(y) converted input signal converting means(110) and then outputs the original signal(z). Means(140) updates a separation reference matrix(F), that is a reference for the separation of the original signal(z) and preliminary stored, according to the original signal(z) and then output the separation reference matrix(F) to the original signal separation means(130).
