The invention relates to a variable workstation furniture system with vertical, polygonal columns (10) and horizontal tie-bars (30) which can be attached thereto. Said columns are provided on at least two sides with respective two rows of vertical slots in which connectors (20) are hinged that can be linked with the tie-bars and that are provided with clevis-type hooks (23) and can be fixated in said slots. The aim of the invention is to provide a modular furniture that can be produced at low costs and that facilitates a quick and stable connection of vertical columns and horizontal tie-bars. To this end, the connectors are configured as hoops which merge in their side limbs (21, 22) into the clevis-type hooks. At their exterior, said connectors are provided with projecting tension webs (24). At the ends of the tie-bars, end elements (36) forming prism-shaped recesses (37) are provided which have an opening where the connectors are introduced. Said end elements of the tie-bars are mounted on the connectors hinged at the column and are tensioned by means of checking wedges (40, 50) with counter-checking elements (41, 51) interacting with the tension webs of the connectors.
