A top-plate (27) overhanging a hollow base (2) is supported at one side by an upright heater element casing (3). A central vertical kebab (9) spit (7) is mounted between top (6) and bottom (5) dished disks, the latter serving as a drip tray. 6 more slender brochette (10) spits (8), parallel and equally spaced round the first, sit freely in blind holes (29) in the lower disk. Elbowed slots allow them to be readily seated in and removed from corresponding holes in the upper disk, above which each carries a sprocket wheel (18). The spit assembly (4) is rotated by a geared electric motor (13), within the base, whose drive-shaft (12) is connected to the lower disk (11) through a slot (28). Each peripheral spit rotates in steps, w.r.t. the assembly, as a fixed peg (19) engages its sprocket. A screwed rod (22) with external knob (24) lets the user vary the distance of the spits from the thermostatically controlled (30) radiant element (3), moving them along a ramp (21) within the limits set by the base slot and a top-plate groove (26). Wing-plates, hinged on the element casing edges, direct the radiated heat and control spatter.
