<p>An apparatus (10) for descaling a pipe (200) consists of a drill rod (14) with a drill head (12) positioned forward of the drill rod (14) and a first support unit (16) to support and centralise the drill head (12) and the drill rod (14) in the pipe (200). A first drive unit (18) rotates the drill rod (14). A second drive unit (20) feeds the drill rod (14) into the pipe (200). Rotation of the drill rod (14) is transferred to the drill head (12) and feeding the drill rod (14) into the pipe (200) advances the drill head (12) into the pipe (200). As the rotating drill head (12) advances in the pipe (200) it removes scale from inside the pipe (200).</p> |
