A method for dressing worn or adjusting new blades (2) in a screw press, wherein: the worn blade (2) is turned down to a predetermined height above the screw shank (1); an adapter plate (5) having a predetermined height above the screw shank (1) and width and having pre-formed, drilled holes (6) for fixing screws (7) is welded (8) in place in the upstream angle between the blade (2) and the screw shank (1) respectively on the upstream side of the blade; and a solid or composite wear shoe (4; 4', 4'') having predetermined height and width dimensions and pre-drilled holes (10), all related to the selected dimensions and holes (6) in the adapter plate (5), is secured to the adapter plate by means of screws (7) through the holes (6) therein and the holes (10) in the wear shoe (4; 4', 4'').
