DEVICE FOR DETERMINING THE OVULATION PERIOD OF THE FEMALE REPRODUCING SYSTEM

The present invention pertains to the field of medicine, more precisely to that of obstetrics and gynecology, and may be used for diagnosing the physiological condition of the female reproducing system, for planning pregnancy or for implementing measures in order to prevent unwanted pregnancy. The device includes a sensor in the form of electrodes which are made of materials having heterogeneous chemical compositions and which are brought into contact with the mucous discharges of the organism. The method involves measuring during the menstrual cycle the difference between the redox potentials that occurs between the electrodes and reaches a maximal value during the ovulation period. The mucous discharges used may be the saliva or the cervical mucus. The device for determining the ovulation period includes a sensor in the form of electrodes which are mounted on a holder made of a dielectric material, which are made of materials having heterogeneous chemical compositions and which are connected to a comparator, an indication unit and two LEDs. The device also includes a unit for determining the actuation threshold as well as a stable voltage supply. One of said electrodes can essentially be made of copper while the other can be made of aluminium or gold and aluminium. Both electrodes can also be made of a previously polarised glass-carbon material.
