An information managing system (10) comprises electronic marker tags (12) each having a transponder (16), a portable tag reader/writer (18) having an interrogator for transmitting an interrogation signal to a transponder (16) and receiving a response signal transmitted in response to the interrogation signal from the transponder (16), and an information processing system (22) for communication of data with a tag reader/writer (18). The electronic tag marker tags (12) are distributed in a desired area. The tag reader/writer (18) receives a response signal from a specific electronic marker tag (12) and transfers at least part of the response data included in the response signal to the information processing system (22), which can use the data for search of a database.
