PURPOSE: A monitoring apparatus of a solenoid valve and a control method thereof are provided to accurately control the motion state of a solenoid valve and to promptly decide the abnormal state of the solenoid valve by deciding the opening degree of the solenoid valve with the signal outputted from a potentiometer. CONSTITUTION: A monitoring apparatus of a solenoid valve comprises a solenoid valve(10) of which opening degree is changed corresponding to the magnetic field of a coil, a potentiometer(20) of which voltage outputted by the change of resistance is changed depending on the opening degree of the solenoid valve, and a motion control unit(30) outputting a control signal for controlling the motion of the solenoid valve and deciding the motion state of the solenoid valve by using the signal outputted from the potentiometer. If the opening degree of the solenoid valve is not maintained in the predetermined state, the motion control unit decides the opening degree of the solenoid valve to be abnormal.
