STARCH ESTER

摘要

A starch ester formed by replacing the hydrogen atoms of reactive hydroxyl groups present in each of starch molecules with C2-4 acyl groups and C6-18 acyl groups. By regulating the degree of replacement with the long-chain acyl groups and that with the short-chain acyl groups, the starch ester can be thermoplastic and moldable even without containing a plasticizer. The starch ester is hence usable as a biodegradable thermoplastic material even when it contains no plasticizers.
