The invention relates to a safety device used as a pedestrian impact protection device at the front end of a motor vehicle. According to the invention, edge parts (12) form an upper edge area on the front end (1). Said edge parts function as energy-absorbing deformation elements when a pedestrian impact occurs. Said deformation elements are mounted on the structural parts (3, 4, 5) of the wall of the front end structure (2). Said structural parts surround the bonnet side edges and the bonnet front edge, whereby the critical upper edge parts of the front end (1) are straightened out in a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian and the front bonnet (8) can almost independently be configured as a further surface deformation element. In a preferred embodiment, said device is linked to a deformable front end part (20). |
