The invention relates to a method for instant preparation of quick boiled rice having natural outside appearance and light and unostentatious taste. By it wet rice is mechanically prepared having moisture content larger than 17 to 32 wt.%, preferably by husking the rice in wet form to eliminate the bran, followed by drying. As a result of husking a product is produced which boils quickly, has exceptionally high yield after boiling, with excellent nutritive and taste qualities. The rice treated in this way can be made instantaneous after another stage of plastic treatment in wet condition until the instant rice is produced.
