The drier comprising a folding frame and racks e.g. of plastic-covered wire, has a heater at the bottom containing at least one electrical resistance and a power cable (5). The resistance is protected by a dielectric sleeve. The heater has a top cover of a waterproof material with notches round the sides to let air through and a concave surface with a central well to collect water from the laundry being dried. The heater can be fitted with a timer and/or thermostat.
