A multiple-pane sealed glazing unit [47] having two or more parallel glazing sheets [21, 22, 48] which are spaced apart and sealed at the peripheral edges. Incorporated within the unit is a decorative feature comprised of patterns [26, 35, 52] applied to two or more surfaces of the glazing sheets, that are in mutually aligned registration, and which are of a width sufficient to create a visual illusion of solid members spanning the cavities between the glazing sheets. The patterns [26, 35] of the outer glazing sheets [21, 22 ] have on one side a dark shade facing the interior of the glazing unit and on the opposite side a light shade facing the exterior of the glazing unit. The combination of these shades enhances the visual illusion of solid members within the cavity. In a preferred embodiment the decorative pattern simulates a traditional divided-light window (see Fig. 7). In a second preferred embodiment the decorative pattern attached to the exterior of the outer glazing sheets is formed from profiled members (see Fig. 5 and 9). |
