A fastening device for strap end portions 1, 8 has a buckle member 2 mountable on one strap end portion 1 so as to project from this portion, the buckle member including a portion 6 having at least one projection 7 which, or each of which in the fastening condition is engageable in a hole 9 of the strap end portion 8, a slider 10 which, in use, secures the projection or projections 7 in the hole or holes 9 and embraces the strap end portion 8 and the buckle member 2, characterised in that the slider has a middle portion 14 between two channel-shaped guides 13 engageable on and shiftable along the edges of the strap end portion 8, the portion 14 being higher than the guides in order to provide between the portion 14 and the strap end portion 8 a space for receiving the portion 6 of the buckle member. In the embodiment shown a T-shaped metallic buckle member 2 has two teeth 7 and is secured to the end portion 1 of a leather or plastics strap by a loop 5. The slider 10 has a slot 12 to allow the teeth 7 to be fully inserted in the holes 9. The portion 6 may be slightly curved in the longitudinal direction to improve securing of the slider in the fastening condition. |
