PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform editing in a single recording medium without overriding recorded existing video images by recording a video object and first and second program chain information for indicating the reproduction order in an optical disk and successively reading and reproducing a temporarily edited second cell based on the recorded information. SOLUTION: Orig-PGC #1-#3 specify the entire section to be the reproduction object of the video object and cells #1-#12 specify the entire section or a partial section and the reproduction order. User-Defined PGC #1-#3 specify a reproduction section defined by a user from the entire reproduction section specified by the Orig-PGC. The cells #1A- specify the entire section or the partial section indicated by the cells #1- and the cells #1A- edited by a temporary editing means is successively read and reproduced corresponding to the reproduction order of the respective pieces of the information. Thus, not only the final result of video editing but also intermediate results are individually recorded and the optimum one is selected later.
