PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photomultiplier tube having an improved yield at the time of manufacturing and an improved airtightness of a sealed container by improving integration between bypass lines and a light-receiving face plate, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In this photomultiplier tube 1, the upper ends of bypass lines 2 are formed in a polygonal shape by warped-up plural frame parts 80, and each corner 81 is positioned at a higher position than other parts. As a result, the upper ends 81a of the corner parts 81 are buried deeply in a light-receiving face plate 3, to thereby distribute to improvement of the joining state between the bypass lines 2 and the light-receiving face plate 3. And besides, as the upper ends of the bypass lines 2 are buried in the light-receiving face plate 3, joining between the bypass lines 2 and the light-receiving face plate 3 becomes certain and an yield at the time of a joining work is improved.
