PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image processor which shapes an appropriate character pattern and improves a character recognition rate. SOLUTION: A character segmenting part 2 segments character image data in which a character pattern is recorded from image data inputted from an image inputting part 1 in prescribed resolution. A two-dot wide white line supplementation processing part 31 of a preprocessing part 3 connects a character line segment of two-dot width to the segmented character image data, and a reference variable filter processing part 32 further eliminates noise and performs smoothing processing while minimizing the increase of throughput. The preprocessing part 3 appropriately expands a reference range according to a prescribed condition and shapes a character pattern. A character recognizing part 4 performs character recognition processing of the shaped character pattern, converts it into a corresponding character code and is outputted from a result outputting part 5. |
