PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress peeling of a lubricating film due to contact and sliding between a magnetic recording medium and a magnetic head slider at a high speed, and to suppress a spin-off of lubricant due to fast rotation of the magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: The lubricant molecules which constitute a lubricating film 5 are made to have a mesh structure as a whole. The mesh structure is produced by applying a lubricant having double or triple bonds in the molecule on the sliding face of a magnetic disk medium or a magnetic head slider and then irradiating the lubricant with electromagnetic waves having high energy such as UV rays. Thereby, the double or triple bonds are dissociated and molecules adjacent to each other form crosslinked bonds. In the lubricant film having the structure above described, large force locally added by contact and sliding at high speed between the magnetic head slider and the magnetic recording medium is dispersed to prevent peeling of the lubricating film. Further, since the movement of the lubricant molecules is limited, spin-off can be prevented. In this magnetic recording medium, a fluorocarbon compd. having one or more either double bonds or triple bonds or both of these in the main chain is applied to form the outermost surface layer.
