PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable dealing with each of plural shuffling patterns of audio data. SOLUTION: Audio data of 8 channels are supplied to a block 11, rate- converted by RAM 13 (A, B), an outer code parity is given by a block 14, and packetized. The number of outer code is given to every packet. A table by which a shuffling is performed with a channel unit based on the number of outer code is externally loaded in accordance with a format and stored in a RAM 15, and a table by which a shuffling is performed with a channel unit based on the result of shuffling by the RAM 15 is externally loaded in accordance with a format and stored in a RAM 16. Output of the RAM 16 is further shuffled with a track unit, and outputted as an address of a SDRAM 18. Packets are stored in a SDRAM 18 in order of recording by this address. An inner code parity is given to a packet outputted from the SDRAM 18 in order of recording, and recorded in a magnetic tape.
