PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording and reproducing device with operation buttons permitting to perform a lot of processing in spite of being reduced in operation area. SOLUTION: A control panel 2 is provided with a selection button group 9 which is arranged on the surface of a case and consists of plural operation buttons 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 for selecting an input/output processing part, and operation buttons 11, 12 used as mode change-over means for changing over the modes concerning the port selection button group 9. Such an arrangement makes it possible to operate the device in each mode with a single group of buttons. Namely, it becomes possible for the data recording and reproducing device to execute every mode without being provided with plural button groups corresponding to plural modes.
