PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image processing system which has high image processing efficiency and is also inexpensive. SOLUTION: This image processing system is provided with an image pickup device (CCD sensor) which reads an image signal in a line unit. The CCD sensor first performs forward scanning of an original (A). In such a case, even though image processing such as compression is performed together, but as for a part (part where hatching is not applied) where processing can not be made because the moving speed of a scanner is too fast, backward scanning is later performed and image processing is performed (B).
