PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply select a transmission rate of radio channel by the intention of the operator while clearly recognizing the transmission rate. SOLUTION: This radio communication terminal starts communication at a designated transmission rate in advance via a conventional connection start negotiation with a radio base station. During the communication, when a high- speed transmission rate request is entered (S1001), the radio communication terminal discriminates whether or not its own station can change its own transmission rate (S1002). When the transmission rate can be changed, the high-speed transmission rate request is sent to the radio base station (S1003). When the communication terminal receives a reply for high-speed transmission rate request (S1004) and negotiation is settled, the transmission rate of its own station is set to the decided transmission rate (S1005), and then the transmission rate revision sequence is ended.
