SOLUTION: This radio selective calling receiver is provided with an electric field strength detection section 102, an electric field strength discriminating section 103 that discriminates the priority of a reception state of received cycle information, a reception cycle comparing section 106 that discriminates coincidence between reception cycle information received precedingly and reception cycle information received this time, a selector 108 that decides a reception cycle receiving its own message sent from a base station side including the reception cycle denoted by the reception cycle information which is received precedingly, based on the reception state of the reception cycle information discriminated by the electric field strength discrimination section 103 and the discrimination result by the reception cycle comparison section 106 and a reception cycle storage section 109 or the like.
