PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an LED which emits light rays of neutral tints between red and green with high luminance, by synthesizing the light from a light emitting layer and the fluorescence from a substrate so that the LED may emit light rays of pink, purplish red, orange, yellow, white, etc. SOLUTION: An LED element is constituted in such a way that an LED(light emitting diode) chip 9 composed of a substrate 12 and an epitaxial light emitting structure 13 is mounted on an element frame 10, and one electrode of the chip 9 is connected to the frame 10. The other electrode of the chip 9 is connected to a steam 11 through a wire 14. Therefore, when C<A (A and C respectively represent the wavelength of the lowest-energy light which can excite fluorescence and the wavelength of the light emitted from the structure 13), the LED element can emit light rays of pink, purplish red, orange, yellow, white, etc., which are neutral tints between red and green by exciting the dopant of the substrate 12. Therefore, an LED which can emit light rays of various colors between red and green at high luminance can be manufactured. |
