PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the floating height for every stress applied to a head suspension and to easily enable the actual measurement of a bucking strength to be performed, in a head strength evaluation tester for measuring the head strength. SOLUTION: This tester is provided with a substrate 1 with a hole, a suction attaching jig 2 which fixes the head on the substrate by vacuum-sucking from the opposite side of the hole, in a state where a head 8 attached to a suspension 7 is positioned in the hole of the substrate, a stress applying means for applying a prescribed stress to the suspension by rotating the substrate at a specific torque, a means which stops the vacuum-suction after the prescribed stress is applied and which measures a distance between the head and the substrate when the substrate is rotated, and a means for judging the buckling strength based on the deformation in the measured distance between the head and the substrate.
